Decatur Man Arrested in Macy's Fraud Case
The FBI believes Theodore James Winston received refunds for items that were never purchased.

A Decatur man is facing charges that he duped sales people at more than 200 Macy’s stores across the U.S. into giving him refunds ... for merchandise that was never purchased.
Theodore James Winston was arrested last week on fraud charges, the AJC reports.
The FBI says Winston -- over the phone -- tricked customer service managers at the stores more than 300 refunds for products that were never purchased.

“Once the caller is connected with the EIC [Macy’s executive in charge], he identifies himself as Mark or Mike Miller, director of customer service in New York. To legitimize his identity, the caller mentions the names of actual Macy’s management personnel,” the complaint reads.
The complaint goes on to say he is calling on behalf of an unhappy customer who was attempting to exchange a dress. Then the caller goes on to direct the sales representative to refund the purchase.
