Decatur Police Investigating Thursday Night Purse Snatching

DECATUR, GA — Police are investigating a robbery on Church Street that happened late Thursday night.

According to police, the victims said they were sitting in the 400 block when a man ran up and snatched a purse from the table, and then ran into a vehicle that pulled up nearby. The vehicle sped off north and then turned east onto East Ponce de Leon Avenue.

The suspect was described as a black male, 20’s-early 30’s, approximately 5’8, thin build, possibly having a dread hair style, wearing blue jeans, a dark hooded sweatshirt and black cap with a red brim. The vehicle was a newer model, shiny black, 2-door hatchback with loud exhaust driven by a second black male.

The victims were not injured.
