Decatur Schools Let Out Because of Water Main Break
Low water pressure caused by a large water main break has made school bathrooms inoperable.

Students are being sent home from City Schools of Decatur because of a water main break at South Columbia and Parkhill Drive outside the city.
The school system is asking parents to pick up their children as soon as possible.

All eight schools in the Decatur school system currently have low water pressure or no water at all. School officials say they are sending kids home because the school bathrooms do not work right now, reports WABE.
Water pressure is low in parts of Decatur, Avondale and other areas in DeKalb County as crews work to repair the water main break.

Decatur City officials say there has been no order to boil water while repairs are made to the 36-inch water main. Officials say the pipe, which is over 40 years old, is scheduled to be replaced under the county’s $1.35 billion CIP plans.
Other areas affected by the break include Atlanta, Clarkston and Scottdale.
DeKalb County crews are on the scene, and say repairs could take up to two days to complete, according to the Decatur Minute blog.
