Decatur Schools Parents Invited To Take Diversity Survey
The Educational Equity Needs Assessment addresses how students of different races are treated at City Schools of Decatur.

DECATUR, GA — Parents of students who attend City of Decatur schools are being invited to take part in a survey about diversity issues in the school system.
Parents are invited to take part in the Educational Equity Needs Assessment, which the school system shared Friday on its Facebook page. You can find the survey here.
Parents are asked to complete the survey by March 31.

Last year, the city school system hired an equity director, whose job it is to address racial discrepancies in student performance and disciplinary issues. Lillie Huddleston, a former assistant professor at Georgia State University's School of Public Health, was hired to fill the new role.

A report published by Decatur schools noted that, during the 2015-16 school year, black students were eight times more likely than white students to be cited for conduct problems.
City Schools of Decatur also will be holding a parent listening session on Sunday, March 18, from 2-3 p.m. Parents who did not attend previous sessions and would like to sign up may contact Kelli Aaron at kaaron@csdecatur.net.
