Decatur Teacher Recovering From Bacterial Meningitis
No students were at risk to exposure, health officials said, as the strain the elementary school teacher carried isn't very contagious.

A Decatur elementary school teacher can thank her principal for saving her life when she suffered a health episode at school last week.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Dr. Sabreen Jai of Wadsworth Elementary School became ill from bacterial meningitis at school. Dr. Cornelia Crum, Wadsworth’s principal, quickly called 911 to ensure that Jai got medical attention immediately.
Jai’s daughter told the AJC that her mother’s strain of meningitis was not highly contagious; school officials and health officials said that children were never at risk to exposure to the potentially deadly disease.

The teacher is recovering from her illness at a local hospital, the AJC said.
