DeKalb Boy Shot by Brother, Police Say

A Lithonia man is behind bars at the DeKalb County jail after police say he accidentally shot his 10-year-old brother in the head.

Tyderris Cash, 24, has been charged with reckless conduct, second degree cruelty to children, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for the Monday shooting of DeShawn Beedles, DeKalb County jail records show. Beedles was shot at approximately 1 p.m. at the Windward Forest Apartments on Embarcadero Drive in Lithonia, police told Patch.
Police told WSB-TV Wednesday that Cash and a 7-year-old brother were both in the apartment with Beedles when the gun Cash was handling discharged and put a bullet in Beedles’ head.

Police said Monday that Beedles was taken to Egelston in critical condition.
