According to WSB-TV, Brandon Brown pleaded guilty to two counts of violating his oath of office and one count of simple battery for a 2013 incident at an Ethiopian restaurant which saw Brown demand $50 from a man in exchange for not giving him a $500 citation for marijuana possession and then confronted a woman who recorded the exchange on her cell phone.
DeKalb County prosecutors didn’t push for jail time for the former officer, but did want to make sure he could not get another job in law enforcement, WSB-TV said. A condition of Brown’s plea deal denied him first offender status, meaning he will have the felony conviction on his record permanently.
