DeKalb Grandmother Hit By SUV, Left For Dead

She was walking to a bus stop on Clairmont Road to go grocery shopping, family members said.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — A DeKalb County grandmother is in critical condition after being hit by a car, which left the scene, as she was trying to cross the street.

Family members of 59-year-old Deborah Gee told WSB-TV that it will take her years to recover from the injuries she received in the Wednesday evening crash. They say she was heading to a bus stop on Clairmont Road near Century Place in Brookhaven to go grocery shopping when someone hit her, then left her for dead

Family members told the station the impact broke several bones and doctors may have to amputate Gee's right leg.

Meanwhile, Brookhaven Police are looking for clues in the hit and run. They say the incident happened at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, and that Gee was hit by a large, beige SUV, which was heading westbound toward Buford Highway.

Family members told WSB that two witnesses rushed to help Gee or she may have died on the spot.
