DeKalb Schools Make Call On Wednesday Classes

City Schools of Decatur were still monitoring the winter weather that is bringing snow and dangerous wind chills to metro Atlanta.

DECATUR, GA — DeKalb County public schools and administrative offices will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 17, due to the weather.

"Due to frigid temperatures, snow and icy conditions, all DCSD schools and administrative offices will be closed tomorrow, January 17, 2018," the school system said Tuesday night in a post on social media.

Snow had begun falling in parts of metro Atlanta on Tuesday afternoon and the forecast called for more snow and dangerous wind chills.

The National Weather Service on Tuesday issued a winter weather advisory starting at 5 p.m. in most of metro Atlanta. And, at 9 p.m., a wind chill advisory went into effect, when the temperature could drop to 15 degrees and gusty wind could make it feel as low as -5 degrees in some parts of north Georgia.

Earlier Tuesday, DeKalb schools had canceled all after-school activities due to the weather.

As of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, City Schools of Decatur said they still were monitoring the weather and no official decision had been publicly announced. You can check their website here.
