DeKalb Sheriff's Deputy Arrested, Charged With Making False Statements
Lt. Malik Brown is also being charged with violation of oath by a public officer.

DECATUR, GA — A deputy from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was arrested on Friday.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and DeKalb police, Lt. Malik Brown was charged with violation of oath by a public officer and false statements.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation involving the GBI and the FBI Public Corruption Task Force. Police say the investigation revealed Brown ran a serial number of a firearm for her son which came back stolen.

The stolen firearm has not been recovered.
The GBI and FBI began the investigation after being notified by the Carrolton Police Department that the serial number of the stolen gun was checked through GCIC. The gun was originally reported stolen in Carrolton.
