DEKALB COUNTY, GA — The Labradoodle that was found last month on fire in DeKalb County is fighting through complications, according to the rescue that’s taking care of him.

On Monday, Dogs Day Rescue posted that Will was maintaining his temperature after a fever and he’s now able to stand and move around a little. He still isn’t eating enough.

Will, who was found "engulfed in flames" Dec. 5 in Decatur, was seen running along Lindsey Street before someone put the fire out.

On Dec. 28, the rescue reported that Will "has given us quite the scare today." He was having trouble regulating his body temperature.

A stem cell treatment to heal his burns was attempted, but that was not "showing the results we'd hoped for." They used cod skin grafts instead, a $6,000 procedure, but later the company volunteered to donate.

A day after the procedure Will experienced difficulties, according to Dog Days Rescue. He received a blood transfusion and was on oxygen and IV fluids, as well as medications.

"He's still fighting so we'll continue fighting with him," they said. "We knew there was a very high likelihood of complications. This is a big one."

Will was stabilized and taken to an emergency care hospital after spending a night in critical care, the rescue service said.

He appeared to be improving and had even started eating again, but on New Years Eve Will had another fever. He was stabilized and put on medications. On News Year’s Day, the rescue said Will was doing better.
