- On Monday, Jun. 13, friends and family gathered to remember Atlanta rapper Trouble DTE at the House of Hope church in Decatur. Trouble was shot and killed on Jun. 5 after an altercation with the ex-boyfriend of a woman he was visiting. Guests at the funeral included fellow rapper Boosie Badazz, who tearfully shared memories of Trouble. (Urban Hollywood 411)
- The parent organizations at Briarlake Elementary recently held a town hall about teacher retention. Although the nation as a whole is experiencing a shortage of teachers, some teachers and parents attribute the poor retention rate to Principal Jamela Lewis and circulated a petition for her resignation.
