Jimmy Carter Turns 92 on Saturday
One of Georgia's favorite sons will be teaching Sunday school this weekend after a birthday concert in Americus.
Former President Jimmy Carter turns 92 on Saturday.
It's been an eventful year or so for America's 39th president, who announced in August 2015 that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer. Then, in March 2016, after announcing his cancer had gone into remission, he told his Plains, GA, Sunday school class that he no longer needs to be treated for the disease.
The cancer was initially discovered after Carter had surgery to remove a lesion on his liver.

According to the AJC, Carter will celebrate Saturday night with a birthday concert in Americus, then teach his regular Sunday school class in his hometown of Plains, GA.
At the Carter Center in Atlanta, admission on Saturday has been reduced to 92 cents in honor of its founder's birthday. On Wednesday, a special book signing will feature Tony Mendez, who was portrayed by Ben Affleck in the 2012 Oscar-winning movie, "Argo." Mendez was the CIA operative in charge of a rescue mission involving six American diplomats from the Canadian embassy in Iran at the beginning of the hostage crisis.
