More Than 200 Birds Found in Animal-Hoarding Raid
Authorities raided the home of a DeKalb County cardiologist on Wednesday.

Atlanta, GA — An animal-hoarding raidhoarding raid was conducted Wednesday at the home of a DeKalb County cardiologist, where police found more than 200 birds.
The raid was conducted after DeKalb Animal Services received a tip, according to the AJC. The home was located in the 2200 block of Echo Trail in DeKalb's North Druid Hills community.
Channel 2 Action News reported that at least 20 of the birds were dead.

Animal Services posted the following tweet Wednesday morning, asking for parrot cage donations:
DeKalb Animal Services is on scene at an animal hoarding case. They are asking for donations of large Parrot cages to 845 Camp Rd.

Several neighbors told CBS 46 that they suspected something unusual was happening in the house.

"My husband once mentioned, 'I think someone has chickens in the neighborhood,'" one woman said.
"I heard that he had a bunch of birds," said another neighboring resident. "I've seen a dog walker come by every once in a while. I did notice that she had a mask on when she walked into the house, and a mask when she walked out."
The birds are being relocated.
