Oakhurst Porchfest Running Out of Porches
More residents are being asked to donate their porch for the second annual event on Saturday, Oct. 8.

DECATUR, GA β The 2nd annual Oakhurst Porchfest has proven so popular that the event is running out of porches.
According to Decatur Metro, one of the event's main sponsors, more musicians have signed up than there are available porches.
"Unresolved, weβll be left with a collection of homeless musicians," Decatur Metro said. "Wandering troubadours. And nobody wants that."

More residents are being asked to give a performer 60 minutes on their porch.
The very first Porchfest was held in Ithaca, NY, nine years ago, with the concept of having musicians play an afternoon of music on front porches throughout the community. The concept has been spreading ever since, and Decaturβs Oakhurst community had its inaugural event last year. Decatur Metro said Oakhurstβs event was among the top five largest Porchfests ever held in its first year.
