Dog Set On Fire In Decatur: Dogs Day Rescue Launches Fundraiser

Dogs Day Rescue has launched a campaign to help cover medical expenses for Will, who was set on fire in Decatur.

DECATUR, GA — An online fundraiser has been launched to help the dog that was set on fire in Decatur. The donations will go towards Will’s medical expenses, according to the online campaign.

“There's no way to know what his costs will be long term but we do feel that he should be covered,” wrote Dogs Day Rescue. “Any donations above his needs will be used for other expenses for the rescue.”

As of Sunday night, Will, who was found "engulfed in flames" Dec. 5 in Decatur, "continues to be in good spirits, happy and obviously loves all of the love he's being showered with," according to a Facebook post. "His eyes are looking much better today and his nose is healing well. The rest of his body still has quite a ways to go but he's being a trooper!"

The large male tan and cream Labradoodle was seen running along Lindsey Street between 10 a.m. and noon that Sunday before someone put the flames out, according to DeKalb County police.

PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for anyone who can help police arrest whoever set a dog on fire in Decatur last weekend. The person responsible will face cruelty charges.

Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta has offered a $2,000 reward, bringing the total potential reward up to $7,000.
