Two Killed in DeKalb Fire

The house fire happened Friday morning on the 1000 block of Line Street south of Decatur.

DECATUR, GA -- Two people were killed after being trapped in an overnight house fire in DeKalb County, fire officials say.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was reporting that one of the victims, who lived on the 1000 block of Line Street south of Decatur, was a woman who had diabetes and had recently had a foot amputated.

The other victim was a man who lived in the the two-story house, which had been converted into apartments, neighbors told the paper.

One of the victims was found dead in the basement and the other near the basement door, DeKalb County fire officials said.

The fire was reported at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Red Cross officials told the AJC that 10 other residents were displaced by the blaze. 

Its cause remained under investigation late Friday morning, but investigators said they did not consider the fire suspicious.
