Woman Hit While Trying To Cross I-85: Report

The Tuesday morning accident brought traffic to a halt at the height of rush hour: report

ATLANTA, GA — Police halted traffic Tuesday morning on Interstate 85 in DeKalb County after a woman was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the highway, according to a media report. The unidentified woman was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive her injuries, a DeKalb police spokeswoman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The accident occurred early Tuesday on I-85 North at Shallowford Road, the AJC reported. Police blocked off the entire northbound side of I-85, but all lanes were reopened shortly after 8:15 a.m.

It was the sixth time this month that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross an interstate highway in the Atlanta area, the AJC reported. Last week, two men were killed within five hours when they tried to cross busy highways.
