Beloved GCPS Teacher Dies From COVID-19+ County Officer Job Fair

Happy Friday, neighbors! Let's get this day started off right. Here's what's happening around town today.

Here are the top stories in Duluth today:

  1. The man that was accused of hijacking a South Hall County trash truck back in July was arrested in Gwinnett County at his home. He was denied bond and is being be held in the Hall County jail. (Gainesville Times)
  2. The Gwinnett County department of Corrections is planning to host a career fair on August 28 to fill positions such as correctional officers and senior level correctional officers. (On Common Ground News)
  3. Two French organizations, La French Tech and the French Chamber of Commerce, are planning relocate to Gwinnett County in order to promote French start-ups to communicate about their innovative technology. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Gwinnett Stripers announced yesterday the dates for all home and away games for next year's season. The home opener will take place on April 12 against Nashville. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  5. A longtime Gwinnett County science teacher, Janet Bruce, has died at age 50 of COVID-19 complications. She taught at Grayson High School for 17 years. Her husband is currently hospitalized with symptoms of the virus. It is unknown if she contracted the virus at school or somewhere else. (WSB Atlanta)
