Bites Nearby: Armando's Caribe Restaurant

Serving everything from Spanish paellas to yucca and plantains.

This week on Bites Nearby, we will focus on a highly touted restaurant serving cuisine with flavors from the Caribbean islands, Latin America, and Spain. The restaurant's fare is so popular it attracts clientele from inside the perimeter.

-- Armando's might suffer from a bit of an identity crisis. A diner there might be confused, looking at the menu, as to which particular variety of ethnic cuisine Armando's specializes in. The short answer is "a lot of them." You'll find traditional Spanish hallmarks like the Paella de Mariscos (the rice dish cooked with loads of seafood and shellfish). You'll also find Mexican and Tex-Mex fare like tacos, quesadillas, burritos, and enchiladas. There's a whole list of Cuban sandwiches on the menu. Then there are the Caribbean dishes, like their house specialty, Pollo a la Parilla, a half-chicken marinated in mojo sauce and grilled over hickory wood. Armando's features a full bar and specializes in Caribbean cocktails, sangria, and imported beer. Armando's is located in the Abbots Bridge Crossing shopping center at 3170 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., Duluth, GA 30097  770-232-9848. Open Sunday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. A menu for Armando's is available on the website.
