Bites Nearby: Fung Mei
A Chinese restaurant serving familiar and exotic dishes from Shangdong and Sichuan provinces.

This week's Bites Nearby highlights an award-winning Chinese restaurant that recently underwent a location and name change.
Fung Mei -- Formerly known as Pung Mei and located on Buford Highway, Fung Mei has established a storied history since it's inception in 1988. The new interior is nicely appointed and features multiple aquariums and private rooms. The numerous Zagat and Best of Atlanta awards they've accrued over the years are on display near the entrance. Their original menu features both authentic and Americanized dishes from the Shandong province, from standards like Mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken, and Won Ton soup, to more exotic fare like shark's fin soup and shredded jellyfish salad. Some Korean dishes are also available. Furthermore, the restaurant recently added a chef hailing from the Sichuan province to the staff, bringing that region's notoriously hot and spicy cuisine to the table. They also feature a full bar. Fung Mei's portions are generous, and its prices are reasonable. You can find Fung Mei at 1605 Pleasant Hill Road, Duluth, GA 30096. 770-935-8888.
