Eddie Owen Presents: Missy Raines & the New Hip Live at Red Clay Music Foundry (Downtown Duluth GA) Friday January 20, 2017 at 8 pm
“Raines’ vocals bring a gorgeous, nurturing confidence.”
- NO DEPRESSION
Master of the upright bass Missy Raines leads her rich, jazz-tinged bluegrass band, "the New Hip."
She has won seven International Bluegrass Music Awards for Bass Player of the Year, more than any other bass player within the field, male or female.
Missy has lead a prolific career including backing greats such as Claire Lynch, Mac Weisman, Kenny Baker, and Peter Rowan. Raines now leads her own innovative and genre-bending band, The New Hip, which is a rich, jazz-tinged combination of her bluegrass roots and thick Americana.
