Here are the top stories in Duluth today:
- The Georgia Gwinnett College commencement ceremony on December 7 will feature our Gwinnett County Judge, Veronica Cope, as the Keynote speaker and a U.S. Army Veteran, Morgan K. George, as the graduate speaker. (Press Release Desk )
- Visitors can now come face-to-face with life-size dinosaurs at North Point Mall's Dino Safari! Staffers of the exhibit say that visitors should allow at least an hour for the visit. Ticket prices start at $15 and are available online. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Gwinnett police are currently searching for the driver who caused a deadly hit-and-run crash on Winder Road. Gelacio Urquiza Hernandez was driving west on Winder Highway when another vehicle hit him, causing him to lose control of his vehicle. Gelacio and his passenger, Luis Urquiza Requena, went over a guardrail and rolled down the embankment. Requena died due the injuries. Gelacio was transported to a local hospital and treated for his injuries. (WSB Atlanta)
- A Gwinnett couple is facing child cruelty charges after their 6-year-old girl was found to be living in squalor. The couple wanted to keep their 6-year-old girl away from her sibling, so they would lock the child in a bedroom for more than 12 hours a day with nothing but a small foam mattress. In the bedroom, police said they found only a two-inch foam topper, an old mattress with exposed springs, trash, spoiled food and human waste from the victim. (WSB Atlanta)
- Gwinnett Commissioner Kirkland Carden is pushing a $15 per hour minimum wage for all library workers. He wants residents to demand it at the next public hearing. The Board of Commissioners is set to hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center to give residents a chance to weigh in on the proposed $2.06 billion 2022 county budget.
