Duluth Calls For Public To Take Part In Budget Review Advisory
The City of Duluth is calling for the public to participate in a Citizen's Budget Review Advisory Committee, Feb. 21, for the 2019 budget.

DULUTH, GA — The City of Duluth is calling for the pubic to participate in a Citizen's Budget Review Advisory Committee, Feb. 21, for the Fiscal Year 2019 budget. All meetings will take place in the City Hall Community Room between 6 and 8 p.m.
It is important to the mayor and city council that citizens have confidence in our financial health and practices and be provided full access to all financial data, the city said in a press release.
The first meeting, Feb. 21, establishes an overview of the city’s budget process and what the Budget Committee’s role will be in the process. All Budget Committee participants will be given the city’s current operating budget, FY2018, and ten-year forecast presentation. They will be asked to study the material and be ready to discuss them at the next meeting.

The second meeting, Feb. 28, involves review of preliminary figures for the draft FY2019 budget, debt service commitments, exemptions, city initiatives, as well as information relating to capital reserve funds.
The third meeting, March 7, is geared toward recommendations from the citizen’s committee, addressing any concerns with the budget and discussion of visionary opportunities for the city.

The recommendations of the Citizen’s Budget Review Advisory Committee will be presented to the city council. Officials and staff look forward to working with the citizens again this year.
