A Duluth-area restaurant was cited for multiple violations, including improper food storage and managerial control, and scored a 49 on a health-department inspection this week.
According to a Gwinnett County Health Department inspection report, Five Spice Asian Fusion, 6575 Sugarloaf Parkway, received the failing score on Sept. 16. A follow-up inspection will be scheduled within 10 day. If the restaurant makes a U on the follow up or the next routine inspection, then the permit may be suspended.

Observations: Person in charge not maintaining active managerial control over establishment regarding food safety . The person in charge must be able to communicate health policy at time of inspection. Multiple hermetically sealed cans found with dents along the seam. Unwashed produce stored above washed/cut produce. Raw meats stored above ready to eat foods in multiple coolers, freezer. Multiple containers of cut, washed produce not covered in the walk in cooler. Cold-held potentially hazardous foods not maintained below 41F. Bulk products removed from their original packages, and not labeled with the common name of the food. Shellfish tags not kept on file in chronological order for 90 calendar days from the date of harvest. Open top cooler with ambient air at 44 deg. F & not maintaining food at 41 deg. F or less. Trash on ground surrounding dumpster. Both exterior doors with gap along the bottom. Follow up within 10 days. If facility makes a U on the follow up or the next routine inspection, then the permit may be suspended.
