Here are the top three stories in Duluth today:

1. A Gwinnett County father-son duo is writing their second book together explaining the important origins of Black History Month. Michael Carson and his 12-year-old son Matthew bonded over their love of music during early quarantine, and the result was a book called 'African-American Musicians That Changed Music Forever.' Their newest project, titled 'How Did Black History Month Begin?' was released in January and the pair have been hosting book giveaways at Snellville Barnes and Noble this month. 2. Applications are officially open for Gwinnett Young Professionals' annual 35-Under-35 Awards. The recognition program honors young people in the district who create, engage with and support their community. Of the 35 initially chosen, one person is crowned winner; however, all 35-under-35 recipients receive access to a myriad of opportunities and connections. (Gwinnett Citizen)
3. The City of Duluth is inviting local senior citizens to come to Bunten Road Park throughout the month of March to participate in a variety of free enrichment courses, beginning on Mar. 12. Attendees of the first session will learn how to take full advantage of their Social Security benefits. Registration is required and can be completed online at this link or by calling (770) 814-6981.
