Here are the top stories today in Duluth:
- Gwinnett County has helped contribute to the opening of the first homeless shelter designed specifically for women and children called HomeFirst.(Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The whole Gwinnett school board is set to host meetings around the county at some of the schools it serves. These meetings will be streamed live on GCPSTV on the district website. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- The Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District has approved the installations of additional safety cameras in order to catch criminals by taking pictures of their license plates.(Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Gwinnett County is encouraging all residents to volunteer to participate in the Great Georgia Pollinator Census that is happening on August 20 and 21. The volunteers need to count how many times a bee pollinates within a 15 minute timeframe. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Yesterday, there was major flooding above the highway that was cleared on I-85 southbound around Jimmy Carter Boulevard. Traffic remained slow throughout the day and drivers are encouraged to take caution in the area. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
