GMC Promotes Importance of Heart Health

In recognition of Heart Month in February, Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville hosted the Do Your Part, Know Your Heart community health fair and provided critical health screenings to 70 associates and community residents. With the help of GMC employees and medical residents, attendees learned about the importance of self-health awareness, risk factors for cardiac disease - which is the leading cause of death in the United States - and regular screenings for high risk conditions. Participants also received screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, blood glucose and cholesterol, as well as obstructive sleep apnea and body fat analysis. The health fair also included heart health and stroke risk assessments as well as flu shots, CPR demonstrations and much more with the help of community partners.
