Hang Asian Market + Duluth K9 Drug Bust + Duluth Streets Improve

Welcome to the Duluth Daily, your go-to for the latest on everything going down in town.

(Patch Media)

Hey, neighbors! Lyndsay Kendall Oxley here with the Wednesday edition of the Duluth Daily.

First, today's weather:

Clear throughout the day. High: 84 Low: 62.

Here are the top stories today in Duluth:

  1. A group of Gwinnett parents have asked a judge to lift GCPS' mask mandate for all students students and staff. Their argument is that masks greatly impact the mental health of students, and that you cannot make an entire school system take on this one rule. The group of parents wish to send their kids to school without a mask to ensure, in their opinion, the best learning environment possible for their kids. The trial started yesterday. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. A Duluth man driving a large SUV was pulled over on Monday with seven air fresheners hanging from the rearview mirror. After the officer took note of the air fresheners, he also noticed that the man was shaking and looking nervous. Upon further inspection with K9 Clodo, they were able to find some cocaine hidden near the drivers seat. Those air fresheners were no match for Duluth K9 Clodo! (WSB Atlanta)
  3. Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful is partnering with Gwinnett Health and Human services to collect items to benefit the Gwinnett Veterans Resource Center ahead of Veteran's day on November 11. Now through October 21, you are able to drop off any donation items Monday through Friday at the Justice Center in Lawrenceville. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Duluth City Council approved a new contract that will keep streets in better shape. It is planning to have crews patch and resurface 11 roads in Duluth city limits. Funds for this are coming from the 2021 Maintenance and Improvement Grant and the 2017 Special Local Option Sales Tax. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  5. Hang Asian Market is planning on expanding its business and is set to open a new location in Duluth. The market will be located on Pleasant Hill Road in Mall Corner Shopping Center. It will sell a number of tropical fruits and produce for you to enjoy. As of right now, the lease is set to start next month and the owners are very active on social media to announce the opening date. (What Now Atlanta)
