Sunny, pleasant and milder. High: 62 Low: 38.
Here are the top stories in Duluth today:
- Are you in the holiday spirit already? Well, you're in luck because 'tis the season for all of our favorite holiday musical revivals. There are many holiday shows being presented in the perimeter, but there are also a few closer to home! Be sure to check out the new Lawrenceville Theatre's performance of Christmas Canteen. Tickets range from $25-$90 and will be on-stage now until December 23rd. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- Three people were injured and taken to the hospital on Saturday after gas fumes and smoke ignited a car at a hotel in Gwinnett County. Firefighters responded to HomeTowne Studios on Jimmy Carter Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. where they found two of the three people laying on the ground in the parking lot. They were pulled out of the vehicle by a few witnesses who also grabbed some fire extinguishers from the hotel and put out the fire. Investigators have determined that the fire was caused by gas fumes mixing with the individuals smoking inside the car. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- A Gwinnett County mother and her domestic partner are now facing charges of malice murder and felony murder. The mother was accused of murdering her 8 year-old daughter and concealing the crime. The daughter's body was found near a hotel in Peachtree Corners on Nov. 23 around 10:45 a.m. Officials said the child, who had autism, was reported missing early in the morning on Nov. 21 at the same HomeTowne Studios that caught fire Saturday. She and her mother had been staying at the hotel for nearly three months. (11 Alive)
- All Gwinnett County schools staff members are going to receive a $1,000 one-time bonus that will be added to their December paycheck. Superintendent Dr. Calvin J. Watts made the recommendation during the school district's November board meeting. The motion was voted on unanimously by the board of education. The board also approved a paid Juneteenth holiday in 2022. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Pinecrest Academy, a local k-12 Catholic private school, is going to hold tours and information sessions for prospective students and their families on December 6th and 10th. (Forsyth County News Online)
