Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Kayla Harrison, your host of the Duluth Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy and chilly. High: 48 Low: 20.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Duluth:

  1. New details have emerged about a shooting incident that happened on Wednesday at a Duluth gun store. According to police, a dispute broke out between the owner of Gun Lobby on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and one of their employees. The employee reportedly "felt threatened," drew their gun, and shot the owner twice. Both were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. Detectives are currently working with the DA's office to determine if charges should be pressed. (Kansas City Star)
  2. The Duluth Police Department is helping spread the word about the "Safe Place" program. The "Safe Place" sign outside QuikTrip signifies if you are in any danger (domestic violence, sexual assault, lost children, human or sex trafficking, or any fear for your safety), you may enter QuikTrip and tell any employee you need a safe place. Employees are trained to contact the proper Safe-Place channels to get them the help they deserve. (Instagram)
  3. An accident that had closed all northbound lanes on I-85 at Pleasantdale Road was cleared yesterday morning. The Georgia Department of Transportation got crews on the scene quickly to reopen I-85 north. The wreck is still being addressed and investigated. (Duluth Patch)
