Man Guilty of Murder in Duluth Home Invasion

Two others were convicted of lesser crimes in the death of one and shooting of two others, including a child.

DULUTH, GA -- A Lawrenceville man has been found guilty of murder for the 2014 shooting death of a Duluth man in a home invasion that also left a mother and child with gunshot wounds.

Devon Antonio Jenkins was found guilty by a jury of the shooting death of 37-year-old Adam Schrier. Prosecutors say the home invasion was motivated by the belief that the house contained 11 pounds of methamphetamine stolen from a drug trafficker, the Gwinnett Daily Post reports.

Jenkins will be sentenced at a later date, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office said.

After a three-week trial, James Leroy Stokes, of Norcross, and Pierre Cedric Scott, who has had addresses around Gwinnett, were found not guilty of murder but convicted on charges including conspiracy to commit robbery. Stokes was sentenced to 10 years in prison and Scott, who was convicted on more counts, was sentenced to life plus five years.

Late last year, Brian Joseph Brewner also was convicted of murder in the case. A jury found him guilty of being the ringleader of the home invasion, even though he did not take part in the August 6, 2014 invasion of Schrier’s Summercrest Lane home.
