Happy Tuesday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening in Duluth today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny. High: 64 Low: 40.

Looking for a healthy alternative to that mid-week glass (or three) of wine? Our partners at Betera set out to create beverages that were sophisticated and flavorful enough to drink at cocktail hour but with zero hangover risk. (Their motto is "Drink like there's tomorrow.") Betera's drinks are designed by a Michelin-starred chef using natural botanicals — they're lightly effervescent, sippable, refreshingly bitter and at home in a stem glass or in a highball on the rocks. Betera offers three recipes — Rhubarb-Hibiscus, Elderflower-Lime and Ginger-Orange. We've tried all three and loved them equally — we recommend the mixed case as a great place to start.

Here are the top three stories today in Duluth:

  1. As of yesterday, students in Gwinnett County schools now have the option of whether to wear masks in the classroom or not. Based on the CDC's updated guidance that indoor masking is only recommended for communities with a high risk of COVID spread, Gwinnett County Public Schools announced on Friday that it would be dropping the school mask mandate. According to the district, Gwinnett County is currently at a low level of spread. "At this level, individuals are encouraged to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and to get tested if they have symptoms," the District said. (Patch)
  2. Looking for some fun, family-friendly community activities in the coming weeks? There's plenty to do right here in Duluth. On Mar. 10 at 7 p.m., Red Clay Music Foundry on Main Street will be showing "Soul" (PG). On Mar. 13 from 2 to 6 p.m., you can enjoy St. Patrick's Day-themed entertainment at the Duluth Farmers and Artisan Market in Parsons Alley. Get more details on the City's website. (City of Duluth)
  3. If you're interested in launching a career in healthcare, Lilburn Medical Institute in nearby Lawrenceville is hosting a virtual open house tomorrow (Mar. 2) at 6:00 p.m. Attendees will learn more about potential job options in the healthcare field and how to jump-start their career in as little as a few months. Register here for tomorrow's virtual event. (Duluth Patch)
