The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Duluth.

Good morning, Duluth! Let's get this day started. Here's everything happening today in town.
First, today's weather:
Mostly sunny and mild. High: 68 Low: 45.
Here are the top stories in Duluth today:
- Earlier this week, I mentioned a mother and her partner being arrested for the murder of their 8-year old. Arrest warrants from Tuesday revealed that there are new details in the case. Officials believe that the 8-year-old was killed by what they call 'battered child syndrome.' This means that the child was beaten multiple times in the head. It was also released that the mother waited nearly two days to report her daughter as missing. Both the mother and her partner remain in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. - Our local U.S. Representative, Carolyn Bourdeaux, said on Monday that she wants to continue to serve as 7th District congresswoman and does not foresee a chance that she will back out of a race against fellow congresswoman, U.S. Representative Lucy McBath. Mcbath currently holds the seat for the 6th District, but after redistricting happened, they will now be running for the same district along with State Rep. Donna McLeod of Lawrenceville. - Officials say that the I-85 improvements from the Gwinnett transit expansion could benefit from the bipartisan infrastructure package that is hoped to alleviate some traffic. The bill includes $9.2 billion over five years in federal highway formula funding for highways and bridges as well as alternative transportation routes such as greenways and bike paths. Carolyn Bordeaux says that the funding level is up 27% per year from where it has been. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
- Gwinnett County Public Schools are offering new dates for multiple vaccine clinics in December. These clinics are free to attend without an appointment and will be held at various high schools throughout the county. (Press Release Desk )
- A Georgia Gwinnett College Filipino immigrant student overcame all her self-doubt to obtain her diploma. Her name is Le Quang Greatzel Unabia and she grew up in Digos City on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. After a tough life there living in a house full of women, her first plane ride, at 20 years old, was to Manilla to obtain the biometrics and a medical exam. Her second plane ride was to Atlanta to move in with her father and continue her education in America. She decided on going to GGC after a friend recommended the campus to her. The act of returning to school in a foreign country filled her with self-doubt, but her classmates and teachers at GGC rallied around her and proved it to be the perfect school for her. Unabia will join more than 600 of her classmates at GGC's fall commencement, scheduled for Dec. 7 at the Gas South Arena. (Press Release Desk)
