Photos Show Wild Wreckage in School Bus Crash in Duluth; Driver Suffered Medical Emergency

DULUTH, GA — The crash of a school bus Tuesday morning occurred because the driver had suffered a heart attack, the Duluth police said Thursday.
The accident took place early Tuesday morning near the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and North Berkeley Lake Road. There were no students on board the vehicle.
The Gwinnett County school bus went off the road and hit a sign. School officials said Tuesday that the driver had to be hospitalized, but they declined to release more information, the newspaper said.

The driver's name and age have not been released.
On Thursday, the Duluth police said the driver sustained a heart attack while driving the bus and went off the road, according to AJC.com. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

On Thursday morning, another Gwinnett County school bus was hit from behind by an SUV. There were 39 students on board, but no injuries were reported, according to AJC.com.
