First, today's weather:
Plenty of sunshine. High: 55 Low: 29.
Here are the top stories in Duluth today:
- Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor is putting up $5,000 of his own money to the $12,000 reward to generate leads for information to help solve a hit-and-run case from last summer. For the sheriff's office, the case is personal as the victim is the son of a longtime Gwinnett deputy. On June 2, 2021, Richard Bartlett III was struck and killed by a vehicle as he was moving out of the family home. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- A new Gwinnett County bookstore, The Little Book Spot, is hoping to offer literacy in every language. The Little Book Spot, located inside Plaza Las Americas shopping mall, will be stocking its shelves with books from all around the world in many different languages to increase literacy in the community. The bookstore will officially open in April. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- On Thursday, the Georgia House of Representatives voted 95-61 for a bill to make Gwinnett County Board of Education elections nonpartisan. If Gov. Brian Kemp signs the bill into law, the names of school board candidates would appear on voter ballots without party affiliation.Additionally, school board elections would be held during the primary elections, which would remove the board seats from the November general ballot.
