Here are the top three stories in Duluth today:

  1. Jonathan Davis Laurens, one of the individuals who stormed the U.S. Capitol back on Jan. 6, 2021, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of demonstrating in the Capitol. On Wednesday, the 39-year-old Duluth resident virtually appeared before a federal judge in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. to accept a plea deal and responsibility for his role in the riot. The crime carries a sentence of up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  2. Duluth animal shelters are seeking families for their dogs, cats, rats, and other pets. Many facilities in the area are working to fulfill adoptions.
