'Witch Doctor' Accused Of Raping Duluth Woman: Police

The woman told officers she went to his apartment to be cleansed during a ritual.

DULUTH, GA — A man police said is known as a "witch doctor" is facing a rape charge after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her on Feb. 5, Duluth Police said Thursday evening.

Officers responded around 11:15 p.m. to the 3700 block of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.

A woman told officers she met the man using social media. Police said she told officers the man was a "witch doctor" and she went to his apartment to be cleansed during a ritual, police said.

While the woman was at the apartment, the man is accused of taking off her clothes, forcing himself onto her and sexually assaulting her, police said.

Hassan Shalgheen, 44, was arrested the next day on suspicion of rape, sexual battery, false imprisonment and theft by deception, police said. He was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail.
