5 Teens Arrested, Accused Of Breaking Into Several Cars In Dunwoody

The teens are accused of having two stolen guns and driving a stolen car Thursday.

DUNWOODY, GA — Five teens were arrested overnight after Dunwoody Police said they broke into 16 cars at Sterling Apartments and Peachford Hospital.

Police said they tried breaking into three more cars but failed.

Officers responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. The teens were arrested after being caught actively breaking into cars at Peachford Hospital, police said.

The officers tried to approach the teens, but they fled the scene, police said.

The car they were driving, which police said was stolen, was later found at a storage facility at North Shallowford Road near Peachford. The teens were seen climbing a fence behind the facility, police said. One teen was caught and taken into custody, police said.

The Brookhaven Police Department's K-9 Unit was called in to track the remaining four teens.

When they were found, one of them ran. The teen was caught by a police canine, police said. His injuries were treated at a hospital, police said.

Two stolen guns were recovered during the arrests.

Four of the teens, all 17-years-old, were taken to the DeKalb County Jail. A 15-year-old was taken to a youth detention center.
