After a local resident exposed the practice, Dunwoody's mayor secured a promise that city camera data will no longer be used for commercial demos, though broader questions about surveillance and accountability remain unresolved.
• Bus Driver Charged After Being Caught on Video Falling Asleep at the Wheel With Passenger on Board (globemagazine.com) — A MARTA bus driver in Dunwoody has been charged with distracted driving and failure to maintain lane after allegedly falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into an embankment with two passengers aboard. Dunwoody Police say the driver and both passengers were injured, and MARTA is reviewing the incident while investigators sort out whether a medical issue may have played a role.
• 11-Year-Old Black Girl From Georgia Dies After Collapsing Following Basketball Practice (blacknews.com) — An 11-year-old Peachtree Middle School student from Dunwoody died after collapsing following basketball practice, leaving her family and school community grieving and searching for answers. Counselors are supporting classmates while additional medical tests are pending, and relatives are remembering her as a loving, generous child. A fundraiser is helping cover funeral expenses.
