DeKalb Police Switch to 9mm Glocks

In two more months, the entire force will have switched over from the larger, .40 caliber Smith & Wessons.

DECATUR, GA -- DeKalb police are switching from their larger, .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handguns to 9mm Glocks.

A total of 300 officers are now carrying the new sidearm, reports Channel 2 Action News. At least two more months are needed before the entire department has qualfied and are carrying the new gun. 

Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric Alexander says the 9mm Glocks have less recoil and feature customized grips.
