Dunwoody Woman Killed in Crash; No Charges Filed

Police say the victim likely didn't yield to the other vehicle, whose driver couldn't stop in time to avoid the collision.

An elderly Dunwoody woman died from injuries suffered in a Monday car accident at the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and Hidden Branches Drive, according to Dunwoody Police.

The accident happened about 2:42 p.m. Monday when a vehicle driven by Roberta Sedam, 79, of Dunwoody, attempted to turn left onto eastbound Mount Vernon Road from Hidden Branches Drive. A vehicle that was westbound on Mount Vernon Road was unable to stop from striking Sedam’s vehicle, police say.

Officers at the scene found Sedam alert and conscious, but she was having difficulty breathing. She died later at Grady Memorial Hospital from a combination of her prior health issues and the injuries she suffered in the collision.

Police say the occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.

Investigators believe Sedam failed to yield to traffic after stopping at a stop sign and speed was not a factor in the accident. The other driver will not be charged.
