Vigil Held for Slain Toddler, Uncle Charged in Death
The toddler was shot Monday morning and died from the injuries. Relatives face murder, drug and evidence tampering charges in the incident.

Family members at a Thursday night vigil for slain 2-year-old say the toddler’s shooting death was an accident, although DeKalb County Police have charged the boy’s uncle with murder.
FOX Atlanta reports Kammari Lewis, also known as “Cuddy,” was shot and killed while his aunt and uncle were babysitting him Monday at his home on Third Street.
Police charged Alexia Thomas, 23, and Detray Shivers, 25, earlier in the week with child cruelty, reckless conduct and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, reports WTTG TV. Shivers was also charged with tampering with evidence.

“The child was reportedly discovered by a family member, deceased from an apparent gun shot wound,” Captain Stephen Fore with DeKalb County Police told WTTG.
Initially police thought the 2-year-old may have been a self-inflicted wound, but detectives believe a gun found inside a storm drain in front of the home was used in the incident, WTTG says.
