In recognition of the 2012 Poetry Month, and in celebration of the legacy of the poet laureate of the African American experience, Langston Hughes, the Auburn Avenue Research Library will host Langston Out Loud: Celebrating the Power of Langston Hughes’ Poetry in the Modern World.
This event will feature poet and Langston Hughes historian, Reed Dorty; and poet and educator, Kathryn Anderson Weaver, and celebrate of one of America’s greatest poets who gave hopeful expression to the aspirations of the oppressed, even as he decried racism and injustice.
