Tersi, the storyteller, will entertain with stories from Latin America, Spain and Portugal with authentic instruments such as the guiro, kalimba, thumb piano, castañuelas, castanets and maracas. Elementary students will learn about the culture and traditions of our neighbors south of the border through songs, folktales and a visit from Spinach, Tersi's pet llama. As they acquire new Spanish words and phrases, older students will also learn how historical events and the experiences of individual ethnic groups (such as the Moors and Jews in Spain and Portugal during the Middle Ages) influenced and shaped the stories passed down from generation to generation.
