Presented as part of France-Atlanta 2011, choreographer Pierre Rigal’s ASPHALTE is inspired by elements of hip-hop, “popping,” and “krumping” - all to the accompaniment of an astounding light show - into a multi-media creation celebrating both the poetry and absurdity of post-modern existence. The work explores present-day urban reality as imagined by Rigal, one of France’s hottest young talents, and as brought to life by five young dancers - the Compagnie Derniere Minute - who are making their U.S. debut in Atlanta.
