🌱 Aloha To Aging Fundraising Event + Mt. Bethel Leaving UMC

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Cobb.

Hello again, everybody! I'm back with your new edition of the East Cobb Daily. Let's get this week started off right, with a quick dive into everything you need to know about what's happening in town.

First, today's weather:

Humid with clouds and sun. High: 83 Low: 68.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in East Cobb who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our East Cobb Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories today in East Cobb:

  1. Aloha to Aging, an East Cobb nonprofit providing services to senior citizens and their caregivers, is celebrating its 13th anniversary this month with a special fundraising event. Concert and Cornhole for a Cause will take place on Jun. 26 at Red Hare Brewery and Distillery (1998 Delk Industrial Blvd.) from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be live music and a cornhole tournament. Participants will enjoy the sounds of Saints N Sinners and Northside Duo, specialty drinks, and the competition. (East Cobb News)
  2. According to attorneys involved in the case, East Cobb's Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church will have to pay $13.1 million to disaffiliate from the UMC and become an independent church. The fee is part of a settlement agreement that will resolve a legal battle between Mt. Bethel and the North Georgia Conference, which governs nearly 800 UMC churches. Mt. Bethel will have 120 days to raise the money, which it will reportedly be doing via a fundraising drive. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. Interested in a law enforcement career? The Cobb Police Department is holding a job fair next weekend for potential officer recruits for its police academy and other positions. The event is happening on Jun. 10 and 11 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cobb Police Department headquarters, located at 545 S. Fairground St. in Marietta. Prospective candidates will participate in job interviews, a physical agility test, a polygraph test, and a psychological questionnaire. (East Cobb News)
