Police Searching For Second Suspect in Monday's East Cobb Armed Robbery

MARIETTA, GA — Police are still looking for a second man wanted in connection with a Monday armed robbery that resulted in two nearby schools being locked down.

The robbery happened around 10:45 at Simply Mac, an Apple sales and repair store in The Avenue 4475 Roswell Road.

Cobb police say two men armed with handguns entered the store and ordered employees and customers to the rear. The two suspects then stole several electronic items and fled to a white van which had ladders on top of it.

When police arrived and tried to conduct a felony traffic stop, the suspects fled westbound on Roswell Road. When they reached The Pavilion at Eastlake, they struck another automobile which was attempting to pull out of the mall.

The man who was driving the van fled on foot and into the nearby Azalea Springs apartments. The second suspect was arrested at the scene of the crash.

James Donald Smith, 18, of Atlanta,has been charged with armed robbery; 7 counts of aggravated assault; 7 counts of kidnapping; and felony firearms possessions.

Police say they have leads on the second suspect.
