Grayson is Ba-ack (So is Parkview)

Defending state champ Grayson High School returned to the state football rankings this week after a two-week absence.

The Rams (4-1), who beat Shiloh 45-27 Friday, are No. 8 in this week's Class AAAAAA rankings by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution/Georgia High School Football Daily.

Grayson had fallen completely out of the rankings after a 22-7 loss at Parkview on Sept. 14. The Rams were ranked No. 1 in the state and the nation at the time. 

Also making a return of sorts is Parkview, which beat rival Brookwood 21-14 last week to take command in Region 8-AAAAAA. The Panthers (4-1) look to have the inside track in winning their first region championship since 2004. Parkview moved up to No. 7 (from No. 10) in the rankings.

Also ranked in the top 10 this week:

• Norcross, which beat Mill Creek 49-41 last week, remained at No. 3 in Class AAAAAA.
• North Gwinnett was idle last week and sort of paid for it. The Bulldogs fell from No. 7 to No. 9 in Class AAAAAA.
• Buford, which beat Banks County 63-0, remained at No. 4 in Class AAA.
• Greater Atlanta Christian did not play last week but still re-entered the Class AA rankings at No. 9.
