Gwinnett's district attorney says each defendant received a 20-year sentence, with varying prison time, after investigators tied them to a safe house and a shooting incident where a homeowner was thankfully unharmed. Multiple local police departments helped build the case.
   

2. How a street racing tragedy changed a Gwinnett neighborhood (wsbtv.com) — Neighbors in a Gwinnett County community are pushing for lasting safety changes after a deadly street racing crash killed resident Susan Kirkland at Old Norcross Road and Glen Chase Drive. Following the tragedy, the county has added signs, a speed radar, and increased patrols while reviewing more fixes. Two men now face first-degree vehicular homicide charges, with one also accused of leaving the scene.
   

3. 'Cowboy' comes to the rescue: K-9 helps Gwinnett deputies arrest fentanyl suspect (wsbtv.com) — Gwinnett County sheriff's deputies used K-9 "Cowboy" to help safely arrest a fleeing suspect during a narcotics operation involving a significant amount of suspected fentanyl. Officials say the dog subdued the person until deputies took over, after which medical staff cleared the suspect for custody. The sheriff's office emphasized careful, case-by-case use of K-9s to protect residents, deputies, and detainees.

Metro Atlanta high school ranks among top 10 public schools in the nation (wsbradio.com) — A Gwinnett County magnet high school has been named one of the top 10 public high schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology ranked seventh out of 18,000 schools, boasting a 100% graduation rate and top-tier test scores. Several other metro Atlanta schools also earned strong national placements.
   

5. '2000 Mules' Come Home to Roost: Pardoned Felon Dinesh D'Souza Settles Defamation Case on Eve of Trial (americankahani.com) — A Georgia man filmed using a Gwinnett County absentee ballot drop box has settled his defamation lawsuit against filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza over the 2020-election documentary "2000 Mules." State investigators had already confirmed his ballot drop was legal, and a federal judge ruled the film's criminal accusations false, prompting apologies, pulled distribution, and now a confidential settlement.
